The Lincoln Memorial stands as a profound tribute to the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. This majestic monument takes the form of a neoclassical temple and was thoughtfully designed by architect Henry Bacon. The interior features a splendid statue of Abraham Lincoln (1920), masterfully crafted in marble by the skilled Piccirilli brothers and conceptualized by artist Daniel Chester French. Adding to its artistic allure, the interior murals were skillfully painted by Jules Guerin, while Royal Cortissoz penned the epitaph above the statue.
In a solemn ceremony on May 30th, 1922, the memorial was officially dedicated, joining a select group of memorials erected to honor American presidents. From the moment of its unveiling, it has captured the hearts of tourists from around the world, becoming a significant and cherished tourist attraction.
