Proudly located east of the Reflecting Pool and the Lincoln Memorial, this monumental structure is crafted from a combination of marble, granite, and bluestone gneiss. Remarkably, it holds the distinction of being the world's tallest predominantly stone edifice and the tallest obelisk, soaring to a height of over 554 feet.
Between the years 1884 and 1889, the Washington Monument reigned as the tallest structure on Earth until the Eiffel Tower, situated in Paris, surpassed it in height. Its construction was ultimately completed in 1884, solidifying its position as a timeless symbol of respect and reverence for the nation's founding father.
